I am very excited since yesterday.......

For months ago, I'd been trying hard to train the pupils for "Action Song" competition. We are the champion in our area (among 8 schools) then yesterday there was the semi-final to the state.

We won in our district (S.P.Tengah) yesterday and we will represent our district for the state competition. There will be 10 top schools (2 for each distrist, for the whole Penang) for the next round. I am excited yet worried for the next challenge. It will be on next Tuesday!! (just a week away.)

So bad was....my video camera met with some "DEW" technical problem. Yet, I haven't got a chance to watch the performance yesterday. Anyone nearby willing to lend urs? I just need to transfer the video out from the tape.....

Here share my happiness with u...

BTW, our theme for the competition is "Malaysia in harmony".

Last 2 weeks, we had a birthday lunch with granny who turned 80. That was the first birthday we celebrated in a grand restaurant in Bayan Lepas.

We brought Darius along. After that, he was sick for a week, just recovered from his high fever yesterday. I hope he is fine...and Carol too... she is having diarrhea badly.

Kids are fun?! No..... I really lose control every time I hear them yelling n crying. For me, school children already made me tired after a day of work. Come back home, I couldn't bare any noise.

Mothers, feel free to speak up!

Attached together Darius' karaoke session.

Chinese New Year is going to the end soon.

How many red packets did ur children get?

Did you forget to give your own child?

Early in the morning for the first day, normally people will get up and dress up. At home, ddcat will get ready with camera to snap some family photos. After that, he ask the children to "line up" and greet him "Gong Xi Fatt Chai".

We headed to in law's house for lunch and relatives house too~

Steamboat is a very common meal during CNY, I think. We had it almost everyday for the last week. Anyhow, once a year and I really can't stop myself of having so much food. :p~

31 Dec 2001 was the date of our ROM. For the first time, we celebrated with my godparents and families. (many of them are not coming back for CNY)

We departed about 11am and reached Kek Lok Si. Carol had a wonderful time walking around for the first time in her life. Of coz, we din't forget to have some Laksa there.

Then, heading to McDonald at Gurney Drive for lunch n break. Children enjoyed their meal with fries.... Parents enjoy to have a free vanilla cone/ extra fries as we joined the Kids Club!! :D

After that, we went to Botanical garden. A funny scene was..... a monkey was peeling off the tissue when it was licking and eating a cone of ice cream.  I think ddcat recorded it!

Time flies and it was 5pm. We drove off to Teluk Kumbar for seafood. It was a romantic beach with nice view of sunset.

My first fondant decoration

firstfondant cake.JPG

I baked a chocolate brownies with walnut this afternoon. After cooling for few hours, ddcat and I decorated our first cake with the  Marshmallow Fondant I made a day ago.

Most of the decoration was created by ddcat. ( his first time....should give some big hands!! :D) I only helped him to make the ribbon and mix the colour for him.

From our first experience, having a white base is not a good idea. The main theme of the cake is lovely bear. All the love and ribbon were in PINK! People who knows ddcat would be surprise!! wow!PINK!!

Anyhow, I just started this fondant decoration. So, my colouring and tools ain't enuff. I bought pink and brown colouring liquid. My aim is to make some roses, flowers and some animal figurine (still in learning process thru youtube :p)

Hope I can do better than this for my second try.      : )

Homemade playdough

For my holiday, I plan to play with some dough. At first, thinking of learning some sculpture decoration that I can apply on my cake/cuppies. Then, I wasted RM20 to give myself a lesson on trying to make marzipan. Fail! And then, cari-cari any other thing can replace bo...

One night, my mom in law showed me her homemade edible play dough. Then, I started surfing some craft thing for my son. Of coz this play dough can not be used as cake decoration items even it's edible.

Anyhow, I had one in my mind on frosting my cupcakes by not using creamy frosting. Normally people don't like to eat the cream on top of the cake. Wasted my effort if they don't eat the frosting that I made purposely. Hmm....watch out mycookingdiary. Cuppies coming soon.....

Ooh...before I forget. For anyone here with children, may be u would like to try the homemade playdough. try this link : edible_play_dough

Hope your children will love them.

Tips for mama: If u want to add in colour, drop a little in the boiling water before u add in flour and tartar. Then, u can save energy to knead the dough with colour later on.

Darius' 2nd concert in Kindy

Children's concert is always a pleaseful function for parents to go. Watching him dancing on the stage, not so good, just at least some exposure for him.

He is still not steady enough to go for dancing. In the middle of the dance, he was easily distracted by ddcat's camera or may be looking around the stage. Aiyaya....

Here's present u his "cowboy dance" and "yee pe yaya".

ooh... forgot to mention that he got a reward so call "Good reader in the group of 3 yrs old". Last year, he won "the best student" in his group. This year, he is defeated by the other little girl at his age.

加油吧!孩子!

Unfair festival holiday
Posted by huih2o @ Mon 05 Nov, 07, 03:30PM under My Thoughts

Why Hari Raya Puasa entitled one week plus holiday while Deepavali just 1 day?

Has anyone argue about this on paper? I am dissapointed with our community that gives too much priority to the "Majority"... That's the answer I got actually. Just becoz we are minority and everything can be put aside.

We lose our right and fairness to be treated equally in the society. Hey, non-muslim, do u awake about this?

Actually, to keep everybody happy, that's easy, announce la... holiday on friday and replace on other day... give one day extra people will be happy. Why are those people so ..stingy...?!?

Is this the democratic society? I thought democratic means the people themselves control their own community. After 50 years, we'd lost our way and right and yet we keep quiet. When we think of our family planning, we don't want more children, more is for burden. That's why we become minority.

Could u just imagine what happend to our children and our generation?

Kids are really lucky~!

Let's recommend this pull up curtain with cute cartoon. I think most of the kids/parents will like it.

Recently we bought one to put in our children's bedroom. Finally they can stay in their own room. As parents, we feel uncomfortable pulak! We are afraid that we can't hear them when they cry at night. Shh....(Normally they will sleep through the whole night.)

Baby sister still refused to walk by her own in her 13 mths. But she is very active and she can even climb up her brother's bed then jump together.

Carol started some bubble talk, unexpectedly one day when we taught her that the pooh is actually a bear, she pronounced "bear" very clear repeating.

May be she learns to talk faster than she walks.
